Choose the Strategic Entrance Gate

Rotterdam Zoo (Diergaarde Blijdorp) is divided into two distinct halves connected by an underpass, featuring two separate main entrances on opposite sides of the grounds. Entering through the right gate can save you significant transit time and energy depending on how you arrive.

If you arrive by public transport or on foot from Rotterdam Centraal station, use the eastern Rivièrahal entrance on Van Aerssenlaan, which is only a 10-to-15-minute walk from the train platforms. If you arrive by car, head directly to the western Oceanium entrance on Blijdorplaan, where the primary parking facilities and highway exits are situated. Starting at one end and walking a full figure-eight circuit ensures you see both the historic botanical monuments and the modern marine exhibits without unnecessary backtracking.
