The iconic sage-green metal chairs scattered throughout the Jardin du Luxembourg are a staple of Parisian park culture. Known as chaise Sénat, these chairs are free for public use, but finding the perfect spot requires a little know-how during peak hours.

Arrive before 11:00 AM on warm days if you want your choice of location, especially around the central octagonal pond (the Grand Bassin). Notice that there are three types of seating: upright chairs without arms, lower lounge chairs designed for reclining, and fixed wooden benches.
