Follow the Top-Down Chronological Route

The layout of the Louwman Museum, designed by renowned American architect Michael Graves, is intended to be experienced from top to bottom. Take the main elevator straight to the top floor upon entry to begin your journey at the dawn of motorized transport.

By walking down through the interconnected galleries, you experience the evolution of mobility in true chronological order, starting with late 19th-century horse-drawn carriages and pioneer steam cars, leading through pre-war grandeur, sports racing icons, and culminating in the grand indoor square on the ground floor. Skipping ahead ruins the historical narrative woven into the architecture.
