Old Town Square and its radiating alleys are paved with centuries-old cubic granite stones known locally as kočičí hlavy (cat heads). These uneven pavers can easily wedge thin heels, scuff delicate dress shoes, and cause twisted ankles. Always opt for broken-in sneakers or supportive boots featuring thick, flexible rubber soles.

To experience the square's fairytale atmosphere without dense tour crowds, set your alarm for dawn. Early morning light breaks directly behind the twin Gothic spires of the Church of Our Lady before Týn, illuminating the pastel Baroque facades and the Jan Hus Memorial while the square is completely peaceful and devoid of commercial carts.
