Master the Upper and Lower Bridge Viewpoints

View from the Upper Bridge looking down into the deep, green-covered chasm of Macocha Abyss.
Categories: Traveling | General

Viewing the Macocha Abyss from above offers a dizzying perspective into the 138-meter-deep gorge. There are two primary platforms: the Upper Bridge (Horní můstek), built at the very top edge, and the Lower Bridge (Dolní můstek), constructed about 92 meters above the abyss floor for a dramatic precipice view.

For the clearest lighting and best photography conditions, visit the Upper Bridge in the morning when direct sunlight illuminates the lush emerald pool at the abyss floor. You can travel effortlessly between the lower cave entrance and the Upper Bridge using the Macocha Cable Car, or take a scenic 20-minute uphill hike along the yellow-marked trail through serene beech forest.
