Navigate High-Level Security and Bag Restrictions

Wrought iron entry gates with gilded heraldry leading to the Peace Palace courtyard in The Hague.
Categories: Health & Safety | Packing | Documents

Because the palace is an international diplomatic compound, security protocols resemble those of an international airport. All visitors entering the gates must present a valid physical passport or national ID card; digital photos or photocopies on smartphones are not accepted.

Travel as lightly as possible when visiting. Large backpacks, luggage, sharp objects, and professional camera equipment are prohibited inside the palace building. While small on-site lockers are available in the Visitor Centre, they cannot accommodate rolling suitcases. Note that photography inside the main court chambers and hearing rooms is strictly prohibited.
