Respect Strict Sentinels and Photo Protocols

An Evzone guard in ceremonial dress standing at attention by a painted sentry box outside the Presidential Mansion.
Categories: Health & Safety | General

The Evzones standing watch outside the Presidential Mansion are active members of the elite Hellenic Army, and strict decorum is enforced around their posts. You are welcome to take photos of and with the sentries, but you must never touch a guard, mock their movements, make sudden gestures, or step too close to the wooden sentry box.

Each guard post is monitored by an armed, uniformed military companion in regular fatigues. If you step past the invisible boundary or behave inappropriately, the monitoring officer will immediately issue a sharp verbal warning or tap their rifle on the pavement. Always approach calmly, stand to the side at a polite distance of at least one meter for portraits, and refrain from engaging the silent sentry in conversation.
