Tap In and Out with OV-pay Across Dutch Transit

Categories: Transportation | Business & Efficiency

When traveling across the Netherlands on public transport—including trains, trams, buses, and metros—you no longer need to buy paper tickets or purchase a reloadable OV-chipkaart. The national transit system supports OV-pay, allowing you to check in and out directly using your contactless debit card, credit card, or smartphone wallet.

Always remember to tap the exact same card or device at both the start and end of your journey. Tapping in with a physical card and tapping out with your phone (even if linked to the same account) will result in two separate incomplete journey charges.
