Walk the East Mole Path

Many visitors leave the museum and head straight back to their cars, missing the most critical geographic feature of the evacuation: the East Mole (Jetée Est). Located a short drive or a scenic walk from the museum along the Malo-les-Bains promenade, this wooden jetty was where the vast majority of soldiers were successfully evacuated onto larger naval ships.

Walking along the modern breakwater today, with the wind in your face and the vast North Sea before you, provides a powerful perspective on the vulnerability of the soldiers who waited there in 1940. Look for the memorial plaque at the end of the pier dedicated to the British and Allied sailors and soldiers.
