Bring a Seat Cushion for Maximum Comfort

Categories: Packing | Preparation
While lower-tier premium seating (the stalls) often features temporary padded seats or backrests during performances, the vast majority of seats in the upper tiers (the upper diazoma) are original and restored Pentelic marble blocks. Sitting on solid, backless stone for a performance lasting two hours or more can quickly become uncomfortable.
Bring a compact, portable foam or inflatable seat cushion in your bag. While local vendors occasionally sell inexpensive foam pads outside the gate before major shows, having your own guarantees comfort and provides thermal insulation against the stone, which absorbs afternoon heat in July and turns surprisingly cold on breezy autumn evenings.
