Choose Sarphatipark over Vondelpark for Morning Solitude

Morning mist over the tranquil pond and lush weeping willows of Sarphatipark in Amsterdam.
Categories: Traveling | General

While Vondelpark receives the lion's share of tourist crowds and chaotic commuter bike traffic, Sarphatipark offers an authentic, calmer glimpse of Amsterdam life. Designed in the English landscape style and named after philanthropist Samuel Sarphati, this 11-acre green lung is an ideal retreat for early morning runners, readers, and photographers.

Arriving between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM allows you to witness the morning mist rising from the central pond, admire the 1886 neo-Renaissance monument without crowds, and observe locals walking their dogs before De Pijp wakes up. Afterward, you can easily walk straight into the surrounding side streets to explore top-rated specialty coffee bars such as Badeta or Scandinavian Embassy.
