Pair Your Visit with Albert Cuyp Market Treats

Picnic blanket laid out with Dutch treats on the grass beside a pond in Sarphatipark Amsterdam.
Categories: Dining | General

Sarphatipark does not have large sit-down restaurants inside its gates, but it is located just one block south of the famous Albert Cuyp Market. The best way to experience the park like an Amsterdam local is to assemble a custom picnic before entering.

Wander through the market stalls to pick up freshly pressed stroopwafels, artisanal aged Gouda, warm surinamese broodjes, or fresh kibbeling (fried cod bites). Once your haul is secured, walk through the northern entrance of Sarphatipark and settle on the grassy lawns near the central pond. Be sure to pick up your trash before leaving, as the neighborhood takes great pride in keeping the park grounds clean.
