Experience Charles Bridge at Sunrise

Charles Bridge lined with stone statues at dawn with morning mist over the river.
Categories: Traveling | General

Between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM, the iconic 14th-century Charles Bridge becomes overwhelmingly congested with selfie sticks, tour groups, and street buskers. To truly feel the gothic romance and mystic ambiance of the city, plan to visit right around sunrise (between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM).

At dawn, morning river mist often drifts across the Vltava, silhouetting the 30 baroque saint statues and the towers guarding each end of the bridge. You will share the monumental span with only a handful of photographers, joggers, and local street sweepers.

After crossing, wander into the tranquil, empty lanes of the Malá Strana (Lesser Town) neighborhood and climb the Castle steps before the ticket desks and gift shops open for the day.
