Hike Behind the Mist via the Rock Gallery

Categories: Traveling | Health & Safety
One of the most thrilling ways to experience Staubbach Falls is by taking the steep, paved path up to the rock gallery carved into the cliff face. A tunnel and series of damp rock stairs lead you directly behind the cascading water curtain, offering a dramatic vantage point over the Lauterbrunnen valley.
The pathway is open from late spring through autumn, but it gets extremely slick from the continuous mist. Wear sturdy footwear with good rubber grip and carry a waterproof jacket or poncho. Access to the trail is completely free, though the entrance gate closes during winter due to dangerous ice accumulation and falling rock hazards.
