Master the Mürren Cable Car Routes

Categories: Transportation | Preparation
Mürren is a completely car-free village perched high on a cliff edge in the Bernese Oberland, meaning you must plan your arrival carefully. You have two distinct public transit routes to enter the village: the cable car from Stechelberg, or the combination cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp followed by a narrow-gauge mountain train directly into Mürren station.
If you are traveling with standard luggage or staying on the north side of the village, the Lauterbrunnen-Grütschalp-Mürren route is usually the smoothest option. Conversely, if your accommodation is near the Schilthornbahn station on the south side, taking the postbus to Stechelberg and riding the Schilthorn cable car directly up is far more convenient.
