Navigate the Cube House Overpass

Categories: Traveling | General
Piet Blom's iconic Cube Houses (Kubuswoningen) are not just an architectural marvel; they function as a practical pedestrian footbridge connecting the Old Harbor directly to Rotterdam Blaak station and the Markthal. Instead of taking the busy street-level detour along Blaak, walk straight up the staircases into the forest of tilted yellow cubes.
If you plan to tour the Kijk-Kubus (the furnished show museum cube), visit right at opening at 10:00 AM. The interior stairwells and corridors are extraordinarily compact and tilt at unusual 54.7-degree angles, which quickly become congested once tour groups arrive by midday. Wear comfortable shoes with solid grip to comfortably navigate the steep, narrow interior stairs.
