Ride the Stoos Funicular to Fronalpstock

Steep funicular train ascending a mountain near Lake Lucerne in Switzerland
Categories: Traveling | Transportation

Morschach serves as the ideal launchpad for visiting Fronalpstock and the famous Stoos ridge hike. Take the local transport connection to the valley station of the Stoos funicular—the steepest funicular railway in the world—to reach the car-free mountain village of Stoos.

From Stoos, take the chairlift up to Fronalpstock for breathtaking 360-degree views over Lake Lucerne and ten other lakes. If you visit in late afternoon, stay for sunset over the Alps before taking the last chairlift down. Be sure to check the seasonal lift operating schedule in advance, especially during spring and autumn maintenance periods.
