Use Contactless Tap-In for Metro Trains

A modern metro station platform in Milan with an incoming sleek train.
Categories: Transportation

Navigating Milan's public transit system (ATM) is extremely smooth if you skip paper tickets. You can tap your contactless credit or debit card (or smartphone) directly at the orange or black turnstiles in all metro stations and on city buses. The system automatically calculates the best fare for your journeys within 90 minutes.

When traveling from Malpensa Airport into the city center, take the Malpensa Express train to Cadorna station instead of Milano Centrale if your hotel is near the historic center. Cadorna is smaller, less congested, and connects directly to the M1 and M2 metro lines.
