Binnenhof

During this period, the Houses of Representatives, the Senate, and the Ministry of General Affairs have relocated to temporary premises in The Hague. While the Binnenhof itself is largely inaccessible to the public due to the renovation, visitors can explore the Binnenhof Renovation Information Centre (Plaats 22) for free to learn about its history, the renovation process, and archaeological finds. The external areas around the Binnenhof, such as the Hofvijver lake, remain accessible for viewing the complex from the outside. The Binnenhof, with its medieval architecture, remains a significant political and historical landmark, making it worthwhile for history buffs and architecture admirers to visit the surrounding area and the Information Centre.

Knights Hall (Ridderzaal)

Ridderzaal building is the most impressive part of the Binnenhof. The Ridderzaal was initially constructed in the 13th century, with its current appearance largely shaped by a restoration between 1898 and 1904. It was initially built as a large hall for the Counts of Holland, as well as being used as a courtroom.

The Inner Court (Binnenhof) - Hall of Knights

The Inner Court (Binnenhof) is currently undergoing extensive renovation and is largely inaccessible to the public until summer 2031. Therefore, it is not possible to stroll through the courtyard or take internal guided tours of the parliamentary buildings or the Ridderzaal at the Binnenhof itself

Step through the famous entry gate into the historical Binnenhof. This is the place where the most significant events in Nederland's history took place and where the future is formed. The Inner Court includes monumental old buildings and several broad open spaces, all freely available to the public.

You can register for a free guided tour that includes an introductory video that explains the history. Next, the guide will take you to the Dutch parliament and the parliamentary buildings through the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights) and either the First and/or the Second Chamber of Parliament.
